Finding the Balance

I wanted to take a moment to talk about something I think we all struggle with from time to time- finding the balance.  There are so many aspects of life that are a balancing act; spending time with family vs. friends, lounging around vs getting active, work vs. play.  It's like finding the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe- if even the slightest thing is unbalanced, your cookie wont be perfect.

So, what brings this up? Recently, we here at Kyrenal Games have experienced a number of emotions that made us realize we haven't been finding the balance necessary to lead a healthy, happy and low-stress life.  From pure exhaustion, to stress, to crabbiness, our household has been a roller-coaster of an environment which leads to even more stress on our shoulders.  We are working really hard to reach personal goals within our game- the primary goal currently being our first trailer (hopefully to be released by the end of October).

In order to meet ambitious dead lines like this, we are finding ourselves putting in an absurd number of hours per week.  Taking a look at the past two weeks of work, we have put in a combined 344 hours of labor between our day jobs and the game.  This averages out to 80-90 hours per week per person.  After looking at this, it's no wonder tension has been high in our household!  Looking at this really opened our eyes to how much work we have put in to get to where we are currently and how much work we have yet to do.  Now all we need to figure out is how to balance things a bit better in order to achieve our goals without burning ourselves out completely.

One thing we enjoy doing on occasion is going to the movies.  Unfortunately, due to COVID, we haven't been able to go on a date since March so we have been doing movie nights at home complete with popcorn, movie-theater style candy and some cuddle time with our studio kitties.

It's been a while since we've done one of these so it seems like it's about time to take some time for ourselves again soon!

Let us know what you like to do to help even the balance in your life!

Until next time, play on!
